What makes Bend a unique place to live?
Despite having nearly 100k residents, Bend still feels like a small town. Residents enjoy 300 days of sun a year, lots of amazing outdoor opportunities and a number of popular breweries, including the Deschutes Brewery, named after the river that flows through Bend.
Where did Bend, OR get its name?
Bend was named after a phrase, "Farewell Bend" a designation used by early pioneers when referring to the location along the Deschutes River where the town now resides. In 1901 the first commercial sawmill was constructed and by 1903 a small community was in place with a post office, bank, shops and a hotel. The 300 residents voted to incorporate the city in 1904.
