What is the commute from Kent like?
Kent itself has major employers like Boeing, REI, Blue Origin, Oberto Sausage Company, Columbia Distributing and a number of warehouse and distribution-based businesses. The commute from Kent to Seattle or Bellevue is about 30 minutes without traffic and 65 minutes at peak hours. The Tacoma commute is between 20-35 minutes. In 2024 Kent is expected to open its light rail station which will give commuters another convenient option.
Where did Kent, WA get its name?
The city of Kent, WA was originally named Titusville after an early settler family. In the 1870s it was the top producer of hops in the world (until an aphid outbreak destroyed the crops in the 1890s). When the town was incorporated in 1890, it took the name Kent, named after Kent County in England, which was also known for growing hops.
