Vancouver is the 4th largest city in Washington and is located along the southern border, in close proximity to a Portland, Oregon. Oregon has no sales tax and Washington has no income tax. The beautiful Columbia river separates the two cities, with Vancouver being much more affordable. A 2-hour drive from Vancouver can get to you the beach, forests, mountains and even the desert.
What is the commute like in Vancouver?
Vancouver to Portland is 20-45 minutes, depending on traffic & your location. The I-5 and 205 bridges can become congested during certain times of the day. Buses offer another convenient way to commute. There are talks of a 3rd bridge and/or an extension of the Portland Max light rail to Vancouver. The Portland International Airport (PDX) is just 30 minutes away.
